Saw The musical Wicked yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d read the book first, and although the musical follows the book rather unfaithfully, it was a fun romp through the hereto before untold backstory of the famous Wizard of Oz tale. For those who have not read the book. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, the relationship between the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch is as surprising as it is sweet. Novice that I am to the broadway theatrical world, I found the sets amazing and the music if not very complex, very enjoyable.
Such a popular ticket Wicked was, that Delegatrix and I were only able to get mid-week matinee tickets. From what I understand it sold in a matter of hours, so we were lucky to have gone at all. If you get a chance, go see it. Its a fun diversion.
